A 5-3 showing in Week 4 pulled the Sure-fire picks clawed back to .500 at 16-16. This week’s spreads show the level of parody in the NFL this year, as no team is favored by more than a touchdown. I’ll try to sort things out.

If things start to unravel for the Bengals, these two will start making life hell for the rest of the team.

Tampa Bay at Cincinnati (-6.5), 1 p.m.

I’m hesitant to go against a team coming off a bye week, but the Bengals are in full desperation mode. After getting beat by the Browns last week, a loss at home to the Bucs would pretty much eliminate any hopes of winning the AFC North. Bengals -6.5.

St. Louis at Detroit (-3), 1 p.m.

The Lions have been very competitive against some top-notch competition. I think they’ll finally get in the win column here. Lions -3.

Jacksonville at Buffalo (EVEN), 1 p.m. Sunday

If the Jaguars’ offense can play like it did against the Colts this will be an easy cover. The Bills are the worst team in the NFL. Jaguars to win.

Green Bay (-2.5) at Washington, 1 p.m.

I’m still not a believer in the Redskins, though if they pull this one off maybe I’ll have to be. Aaron Rodgers will expose Washington’s secondary. Packers -2.5.

New Orleans (-7) at Arizona, 4:05 p.m.

The Saints are long overdue for an offensive explosion and the Cardinals are awful and starting some guy named Max Hall at quarterback. No-brainer here. Saints -7.

Wade and Jerry can't afford another loss right now. Their Cowboys will come through Sunday.

Tennessee at Dallas (-7), 4:15 p.m.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told his team to pretend they were 0-3 during their bye week. So naturally they’ll be dying to get that first win. But seriously, I still think this is the best team in the NFC East and the Titans look a little shaky. Cowboys -7.

San Diego (-6) at Oakland, 4:15 p.m.

This is the type of game the Chargers love to lose. They looked like they got back on track last week, but will come out and struggle against sub-par competition. Raiders +6.

Minnesota at NY Jets (-4), 8:30 p.m. Monday

The Vikings have licked their wounds, acquired Randy Moss, and should be ready to go against the Jets on Monday. If nothing else, this will be very close. Favres +4.
